As the 2024-25 college basketball regular season nears its conclusion, three highly sought-after five-star recruits in the 2025 class remain uncommitted: In the No. 4 overall prospect in the class.

Ament recently visited Lexington, with many speculating that his recruitment will come down to Duke and Kentucky. However, former Wildcats head coach John Calipari is making a late push for the 6-foot-9 forward from Warrenton, Virginia.

Despite a challenging first season at Arkansas, where his Razorbacks are struggling on the court, Calipari continues to dominate in recruiting. Arkansas currently holds the fifth-ranked 2025 class, featuring two five-star prospects—Darius Acuff Jr. and Meleek Thomas—along with four-star Isaiah Sealy. While Calipari prepares Arkansas for a tough Wednesday night matchup against No. 1 Auburn following a 69-61 loss to No. 8 Texas A&M, his team remains on the NCAA Tournament bubble. ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi currently has the Razorbacks listed among the “last four in.”

Even with Arkansas fighting for a tournament spot, Calipari is prioritizing Ament, who could bring a major boost to the Razorbacks in Year 2 of his tenure. However, Arkansas still appears to be trailing Duke and Kentucky in the race for the coveted recruit.

Calipari has long been known for his ability to land top-tier talent, and if he wants Arkansas to compete for an SEC title, securing commitments from elite prospects like Ament will be crucial. This marks his first major recruiting battle at Arkansas, and it remains to be seen whether he can still compete with college basketball’s powerhouse programs while representing the Razorbacks.
