SHOCKING TWIST: Panthers open for reconciliation With Newton Amid rift with franchise icon: More..

Former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton recently described the team’s locker room as a “locker room full of losers,” adding to a series of comments that suggest his memories of the franchise aren’t entirely positive. However, the Panthers insist there is no animosity on their end.

According to Joseph Person of The Athletic, Newton has been invited to several team-sponsored events but has not attended. A team spokesperson stated, “Cam Newton has been and will continue to be welcomed by the Carolina Panthers. Our doors are open, as they are to all team Legends.”Ex-Panthers are desperate for Cam Newton, team to mend relationshipAs the team considers celebrating the 10th anniversary of its 2015 season—when Newton won NFL MVP and led them to the Super Bowl—it remains uncertain whether Newton would participate. He previously expressed disappointment that the team did not include him in a group of former stars honored at a game in Germany last season.

Former Panthers coach Ron Rivera believes Newton will eventually reconnect with the organization—but only if he makes an effort. “I’d love to see him rejoin the Panthers family. He played a huge role in our success over those nine years and deserves to be back,” Rivera said. “But he also has to be willing to take the necessary steps. He knows what’s needed, and I believe he’ll do it because I think he truly misses it.”
