A major recruiting shift has hit the Georgia Bulldogs, as one of their key commitments has flipped. Four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman, who had been committed to Georgia since July 2024, has now announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes, according to Hayes Fawcett.
Wyman, a standout in both football and track at Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro, Georgia, is a top prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Georgia had high hopes for him to stay in-state and contribute to one of the nation’s premier programs. However, Wyman has opted to join Miami instead, boosting the Hurricanes’ 2026 recruiting class to 15th nationally. Meanwhile, Georgia drops to 21st, with only three four-star and two three-star commitments currently on board. This marks yet another instance of a Georgia pledge flipping to a Florida school, following running back Ousmane Kromah’s decision to switch to Florida State during the 2025 cycle.
Wyman is rated as the No. 17 cornerback in the 2026 class, the No. 22 overall prospect in Georgia, and ranks No. 166 nationally. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound defensive back brings both athleticism and versatility to Miami’s defensive backfield.
