The Ohio State Buckeyes have secured 10 commitments so far this season, placing them at No. 3 in the 2026 recruiting class rankings. Despite their success, the team has yet to land a quarterback. Head coach Ryan Day and his staff are now actively working to address that need. One of their potential targets is Jett Thomala from Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, who recently visited the Buckeyes on April 8.
Reflecting on the visit, Thomala shared with Letterman Row, “It was a great experience. I had a chance to connect with Coach Fess and get a feel for his coaching style. I attended quarterback meetings, watched spring practice, and toured the facilities. Speaking with Coach Day was really cool—Ohio State is an amazing place.”Thomala had an impressive season, throwing for 3,664 yards, 47 touchdowns, and just 3 interceptions on 250 completions, averaging 14.7 yards per completion. Ranked No. 18 among quarterbacks by On3 and holding a four-star rating, he has received offers from 11 schools. Coach Day has shown a clear interest in bringing him to Columbus.
“He told me they’re evaluating me closely,” Thomala said. “He likes my film and especially how I throw the deep corner route.”
Standing 6-foot-5, Thomala is a top prospect, but if Ohio State wants to sign him, they’ll have to compete with Iowa State—a Big 12 contender currently viewed as the favorite, with Rivals giving them a 100% chance of landing him
