If the blockbuster trade between Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis taught us anything, it’s that no NBA player is truly off-limits.
In the wake of the Denver Nuggets’ surprising decision to fire head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth, some have begun speculating that even three-time MVP Nikola Jokić might be on the move. Julian Ojeda of ClutchPoints floated a bold prediction that the Miami Heat could make a stunning move to acquire the $276 million superstar.Ojeda proposed a hypothetical trade package consisting of Andrew Wiggins ($28.2M), Terry Rozier ($26.6M), Nikola Jović ($4.4M), Kel’el Ware ($4.4M), a 2026 first-round pick, a top-10 protected 2028 first-rounder, and 2030 pick swap rights in exchange for Jokić and Hunter Tyson ($2.0M).
Realistically, this scenario remains far-fetched. Jokić hasn’t expressed any major frustration with the Nuggets, and while the sudden front office shake-up so close to the playoffs might have him reevaluating his future, there’s no clear indication he’s looking to leave.
Still, for the sake of discussion, if Jokić did request a trade, nearly every team would be willing to empty their vault for him. Denver accepting the proposed deal would be a massive misstep—Wiggins and a few draft picks simply don’t match Jokić’s value.
Franchises like the Oklahoma City Thunder have the assets—both players and picks—to put together far more compelling offers. While Jokić would undoubtedly thrive in Miami’s system, the odds of the Heat actually pulling off such a move are slim. For now, Heat fans may have to settle for dreaming
