SHOCKING TWIST: Mike Tomlin Gives major update about T.j Watt After recent ..

On Wednesday, TJ Watt posted a simple peace sign on social media — but the reaction was anything but peaceful. The post stirred speculation of a potential rift between the linebacker and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Though Watt hasn’t clarified the message, the timing suggests tension over contract negotiations, which seem to be moving slowly — or possibly not at all.

Historically, the Steelers handle extensions late in the offseason, and while this has worked in the past, it’s also led to friction — like Cam Heyward skipping OTAs last year. Now, it may be Watt’s turn to sit out.

Steelers insider Mark Kaboly reports that discussions between Watt and the team haven’t exactly taken off. Still, he urges patience, noting that there’s “a ton of money out there” and plenty of time to get a deal done before real worry sets in.

But there’s a bigger wrinkle: Watt reportedly wants to surpass Myles Garrett’s monster contract — a $160 million deal with a $40M average yearly value. The Steelers had a chance to act before that set a new market, and now Watt’s asking price has likely jumped.

In 2024, Watt is set to earn $28M — but coming off another Pro Bowl season with 11.5 sacks, he clearly believes he’s worth more. Whether Pittsburgh agrees — and whether they act before August — could define their season.

So, should the Steelers break the bank to keep their star linebacker happy?.
