Breaking News: Cubs manager Carlos Mendoza sends strong message regarding $2.4M Outfielder

Carlos Mendoza stated, through Joe Pantorno of AMNY, “He’s in pain. He came in this morning still using crutches. He’s pretty sore and unable to put weight on it… We’ll assess the situation as we go.”

Siri had to leave the field in a golf cart after a foul ball struck his shin in the second inning. While he himself is unsure whether he’ll need to be placed on the IL, Mendoza suggested that could be a possibility in the future.

“Given how he feels right now, I could see the IL being necessary unless he improves quickly,” Mendoza commented.

Siri, who is under a one-year, $2.4 million contract with the Mets for the 2025 season, has been sharing center field duties with Tyrone Taylor. With Siri out for an uncertain period, Taylor will take on the full-time role in center.

The Mets, fortunately, secured a series win over the weekend, taking two out of three games, and moved to a 10-5 record. They will now head to Minnesota for a three-game series with the Twins, followed by a four-game homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals.

While not everything is clicking perfectly for the team, the Mets have had a strong start to the season and should remain in the National League East race. It will be important to keep an eye on Siri’s injury status, as a move to the IL may be on the horizon. In the meantime, the Mets will aim to continue their momentum in Minnesota.
