Virginia Tech Misses Out As star Transfer picks SEC power over Hookies..More Details

The spring transfer portal window for college football has only been open for four days, and it’s already been eventful. Several players who entered the portal on Wednesday have quickly begun arranging campus visits or even committing to new programs.

Virginia Tech has lined up visits with a few transfer prospects, including offensive lineman Terez Davis from the University of Maryland. Davis quickly became a highly sought-after player after entering the portal and was scheduled to visit Blacksburg on Monday. However, that visit is now off.

Maryland OL chooses Ole Miss over Virginia Tech before scheduled visit

Davis ended up visiting Ole Miss and committed to Lane Kiffin’s program on Saturday, two days before he was supposed to visit Virginia Tech. While it might be disappointing, it’s not all that surprising considering his talent.

As a freshman, Davis played in 10 of Maryland’s 12 games, logging 300 snaps while allowing just one sack and two pressures—making it clear why he attracted attention from multiple programs, including the Hokies.

Following Virginia Tech’s spring game last Saturday, head coach Brent Pry noted the offensive line and secondary stood out during spring practices. Still, new offensive line coach Matt Moore is looking to strengthen the unit for both the upcoming season and the future, and Davis would have been a major addition.

Other transfer prospects are expected to visit Virginia Tech soon, and the hope is that Coach Pry can get them to campus before they commit elsewhere without even stepping foot in Blacksburg.
