Pittsburgh Steelers running back has yet to sign the second-round tender the team placed on him over a month ago at the start of free agency.
Currently, Warren and Atlanta Falcons center Ryan Neuzil are the only two players who haven’t signed their tenders. This is likely just a procedural delay, and Warren is still expected to sign.
That said, it might also hint at possible contract talks between Warren and the Steelers beginning after the NFL Draft.
Once Warren signs, he’ll be on a one-year deal worth $5.346 million and would become an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The tender value reflects the team’s second-round designation.
Although he dealt with hamstring and knee injuries in 2024, Warren emerged as the Steelers’ primary running back late in the season, racking up over 800 total yards.
With Najee Harris no longer in Pittsburgh, Warren has a clear opportunity to step into a lead role. Even with a rookie likely to be drafted, Warren’s experience positions him to handle a larger workload than in any of his previous three NFL seasons.
He’s expected to share the backfield with Kenneth Gainwell and the incoming rookie, forming the Steelers’ trio at the position.
