The New York Giants have officially parted ways with linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who signed a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, as reported by FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Simmons, once considered a highly versatile defender and the eighth overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals, was traded to the Giants in 2023 with high expectations. Known for his elite athleticism and ability to play multiple positions, he struggled to find a steady role in New York.
During the 2023 season, Simmons played just 378 snaps, recording 30 tackles while missing 16.4% of his attempts. His limited usage continued into 2024, where he logged only 181 snaps, mostly in specialized coverage packages. He finished the year with 14 tackles, one pass breakup, and allowed 91 yards and a touchdown in coverage, while his missed tackle rate rose to 18.2%.
Despite suiting up for all 17 games in 2024, Simmons remained a marginal figure on defense under new coordinator Shane Bowen. The Giants opted not to renew his contract or redefine his role, quietly letting him walk in free agency.
With a fresh opportunity in Green Bay, Simmons will look to revive his once-promising career.
