**3-Sack Vikings Edge Rusher Tipped as 2025 Breakout Star by NFL Executive**
The Minnesota Vikings’ defense took a significant step forward in 2024 under defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Now, one young pass rusher could be ready for a breakout in 2025.
Dallas Turner, the No. 17 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, didn’t get much attention in his rookie season despite showing promise in Flores’ aggressive, blitz-heavy defense. But a former NFL executive sees big things ahead.
Marc Ross, ex-VP of Player Personnel for the New York Giants and current NFL Media analyst, recently named Turner among his top breakout candidates for 2025.
Ross highlighted Turner’s limited rookie action—just 28% of defensive snaps—but noted he still posted 20 tackles, 3 sacks, and an interception. With the departure of Patrick Jones II in free agency, Turner is expected to take on a larger role and could thrive alongside fellow pass rushers Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard.
The Vikings also bolstered their defensive line with free-agent additions Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen, which could free Turner up to make more impact plays. Coach Kevin O’Connell has even predicted a “huge jump” for the 6’3″, 247-pound former Alabama star in his second year.
While Turner may need to outperform standout Van Ginkel, who had a Pro Bowl season in 2024, he has the athleticism and potential to be a key piece in Flores’ disruptive defensive scheme.
