South Carolina claimed a wire-to-wire victory at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional on Wednesday at Birdwood Golf Course. This win marks the Gamecocks’ sixth NCAA Regional title under head coach Kalen Anderson and their first since 2017.
South Carolina stood out as the only team in the 12-team field to finish under par, posting a 54-hole total of 850 (-2) and leading the team standings each day. The Gamecocks secured a commanding 12-shot win over the competition, notching top-25 victories over No. 11 Virginia, No. 16 Ole Miss, and No. 21 Florida.
All five Gamecock players placed inside the top 15, led by First Team All-SEC selections Hannah Darling, Louise Rydqvist, and standout freshman Eila Galitsky—each tying for fourth at even par. Darling recorded three consecutive rounds of 71 and ranked second in par-5 scoring at 4.58 (-5). Rydqvist, who shot rounds of 67-71-75, tied for the field lead with 12 birdies. Galitsky posted scores of 69-72-72 and led all players in par-4 scoring average at 3.93 (-2).
Graduate student Sophia Burnett finished tied for ninth at 2-over (72-72-71), earning her first NCAA Regional top-10 finish. Sophomore Maylis Lamoure tied for 13th at 3-over with rounds of 70-73-73.
This marks the first time in program history that all five players in South Carolina’s lineup finished in the top 15 individually at an NCAA Regional.
The Gamecocks now advance to their fifth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, taking place May 16–21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The field includes 30 teams from six regional sites, competing in 54 holes of stroke play before the top 15 teams move on to a final stroke-play round on May 19. The top eight teams will then advance to match play to determine the national champion.
This will be South Carolina’s 22nd all-time NCAA Championship appearance and the 14th under Coach Anderson, now in her 18th season at the helm.
