Just In: Walker Buehler Sends Heartfelt Message To Mike Estabrook Over …

Walker Buehler took responsibility for his short outing on Tuesday night, but the Red Sox pitcher knows he wasn’t the only one at fault for what unfolded at Fenway Park.

Buehler had recorded seven outs in his first start in nearly a month before being ejected by home-plate umpire Mike Estabrook. Following Boston’s 2-0 win over the Mets, crew chief Laz Diaz explained that the veteran righty was tossed for leaving the mound to argue balls and strikes.

Did Buehler step off the mound during the exchange? Absolutely. But the two-time World Series champ didn’t do so until Estabrook removed his mask, approached the mound, and began yelling at him.Buehler highlighted that detail in response to Diaz’s explanation, posting on X early Wednesday:
“Who cut the distance?”

Despite the heated moment, Buehler’s frustration didn’t last long. Although he likely hoped for a longer outing in his return from the injured list, he watched Boston’s bullpen deliver another stellar effort to secure a second straight win over Francisco Lindor and the Mets.

Buehler showed strong support for the relievers’ clutch performance—and he’ll likely continue cheering them on Wednesday as the Red Sox aim for their first series sweep since early April.
