BREAKING: Packers Announce Worrying Update Regarding Jaire Alexander Amidst Next …

The Green Bay Packers began their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on Monday, which will run through June 5. The team’s offseason program will wrap up with a mandatory minicamp from June 10 to 12. This marks just the beginning of Green Bay’s long journey as they aim to return to the Super Bowl.

Compared to previous years, the Packers’ 2025 offseason has gone relatively smoothly, with one notable exception: the unresolved situation involving Versatile cornerback. Back in February, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the team was open to trade discussions for the two-time All-Pro. However, by April, reports surfaced that Alexander and the Packers were engaged in talks about his potential return.Green Bay Packers CB Jaire Alexander (23) signs autographs for fans after their game against the Los Angeles Rams at Lambeau Field.Initially, it looked like a separation was likely, but recent developments suggest that both sides are now working toward keeping Alexander in Green Bay. A new report indicates the Packers have made progress by offering him a restructured deal.

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports that while a new contract has been proposed, an agreement has not yet been finalized. Alexander, who has missed half of the team’s games over the last four seasons and carries the third-highest cap hit for 2025, has been participating virtually but has yet to attend in-person sessions. Still, he is expected to report for the mandatory minicamp.

Keeping Alexander would benefit both parties. The Packers lack experienced outside cornerbacks, and GM Brian Gutekunst is unlikely to find good value in a trade. Alexander, who turns 29 in February and has struggled with injuries, isn’t an appealing trade target due to his contract and health concerns.

Since his four-year, $84 million extension signed in 2022 no longer includes guaranteed money, Alexander may be looking for a more favorable deal as he nears 30. A resolution could realistically be reached before training camp begins — or at the latest, by the time it starts.
