BREAKING: Its Home-Coming All-Star slugger, After Commiting With Reds.

A prominent MLB insider has suggested that the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds could be ideal trade destinations if All-Star first baseman Josh Naylor becomes available in the coming weeks.

Despite strong starts from Corbin Carroll and Eugenio Suárez, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2025 season has been underwhelming. After a successful 2024 campaign with 89 wins—their highest total since 2017—and a recent trip to the World Series, expectations were high. However, they currently sit fourth in the highly competitive NL West.

Adding to their struggles is a major injury to star pitcher and offseason acquisition Corbin Burnes, who is dealing with a significant elbow issue. If Burnes is unable to return and perform at an elite level, there is growing speculation that Arizona could shift into seller mode before the July 31 trade deadline.seattle marinersAccording to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, Josh Naylor could be one of the notable players the Diamondbacks look to move. Bowden sees both the Mariners and Reds as logical landing spots.

“Arizona made a savvy move to acquire Josh Naylor this offseason, but if they become sellers, he’s a prime candidate to be dealt again since he’s in a contract year. Naylor would be a great fit for either Seattle or Cincinnati,” Bowden said.

Naylor, 27, is slashing .287/.344/.448 with 7 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 30 runs scored so far in 2025. Both the Mariners and Reds are looking to strengthen their playoff pushes and would benefit from an upgrade at first base. Naylor’s power bat would especially help the Reds in the second half of the season. Additionally, both teams are more likely to pursue a rental like Naylor rather than take on a long-term, high-cost commitment.

The 2024 All-Star had a breakout season last year, setting personal bests with 31 home runs, 84 runs scored, and 108 RBIs.
