JUST IN: $25 Million Defender Reunite With Dave Ziegler In a Blockbuster Deal To …

Now that June 1 has passed, the trade market is more flexible, making it easier for teams to finalize deals. While activity has been relatively quiet so far, that doesn’t mean movement won’t pick up as training camp approaches.

The Las Vegas Raiders had a low-key free agency period, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they become more active in the trade market soon. One name to watch is defensive end Tyree Wilson.

A top-10 pick in the 2023 draft, Wilson is already on his third head coach and general manager, making it unclear how current GM John Spytek views him.tyree wilsonBrandon Austin of Pro Football Network suggested that Wilson could be traded to the Tennessee Titans, where former Raiders GM Dave Ziegler—who drafted Wilson—is now part of the front office.

“Tennessee is in rebuild mode, which gives them the flexibility to take a flier on a high-upside player,” Austin wrote. “Wilson has struggled to meet expectations since being selected seventh overall, with just 8.0 sacks and 61 pressures in his first two seasons. Even with injuries opening opportunities in 2024, he saw only a marginal bump in playing time.

“Despite the rocky start, there’s still hope. At 6’6″ and 275 pounds, he has an ideal build for a pass rusher. If Ziegler still believes in his potential, the Titans could be a logical destination.”

Is It Too Soon to Move On from Wilson?
Wilson hasn’t met the expectations tied to his draft position, but he does have the size and physical traits teams covet in an edge rusher. His production—8.0 sacks over two years—isn’t great, but it’s not disastrous, and he’s only missed one game.

With Pete Carroll now coaching the Raiders, there’s optimism he could help unlock Wilson’s potential. Carroll has a strong track record of developing defensive players.

If the Raiders were to trade Wilson, a third-round pick might be the best return. However, if he can develop into a reliable starter, he’d be worth more than that.

2025: A Critical Year for Wilson
Las Vegas will likely want to give Wilson one season under Carroll before making a long-term decision. His versatility along the defensive line adds some value, especially given the team’s lack of depth behind Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce.

After this season, the Raiders must decide whether to pick up Wilson’s fifth-year option. If he doesn’t show significant growth, they might move on. Year 3 is shaping up to be a pivotal moment in his career—his best chance to prove he deserved to be a top-10 pick.
