Former Auburn defensive tackle Marcus Harris rejoined the NFL on Friday after signing with the Buffalo Bills.
Harris had been a free agent since April 28, when the New England Patriots released him just two days after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft.
This marks Harris’ third NFL team. He was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2024 draft. Although he didn’t make Houston’s active roster, he remained on the team’s practice squad until his release on October 9.
Two days later, Harris was picked up by the Patriots and added to their practice squad, where he spent the rest of the season. He re-signed with New England on January 6 but was waived again in late April.Harris did not appear in any regular-season games during his rookie campaign.
To make room on the roster, the Bills released undrafted rookie defensive tackle Devin Brandt-Epps.
Harris joins a revamped defensive line in Buffalo. While the team retains starters DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver, the Bills also drafted T.J. Sanders (South Carolina) and Deone Walker (Kentucky) in the second and fourth rounds, respectively, and signed veteran Larry Ogunjobi in free agency.
Buffalo has three offseason practices remaining—mandatory minicamp from Tuesday through Thursday—before breaking until training camp opens in late July at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.
A standout at Park Crossing High School in Montgomery, Harris began his college career with two seasons at Kansas before transferring to Auburn, where he played from 2021 to 2023.
