BREAKING: Chicago White Sox Unveils a statue of Former ace as part of the celebration marking the 20th anniversary of their 2005 World Series championship.

The Chicago White Sox unveiled a statue of former ace Mark Buehrle on Friday at Guaranteed Rate Field as part of the celebration marking the 20th anniversary of their 2005 World Series championship. Several members of the title-winning team reunited in Chicago for the occasion.

Buehrle, who pitched for the White Sox from 2000 to 2011 and was a five-time All-Star, is now commemorated with a statue inside the South Side stadium. Jenks, a two-time All-Star, famously closed out Game 4 of the 2005 World Series, securing the franchise’s first championship since 1917.

Also this week, the opener of the White Sox’s four-game series against the Cleveland Guardians was rained out Thursday night and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Friday. At the time, Cleveland stood at 43–48 and fourth in the AL Central, having just swept Houston after a 10-game losing streak. The White Sox, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the league with a 31–62 record.
