Since Hugh Freeze took over as head coach, Auburn football has made in-state recruiting a key focus, and that emphasis continues as the staff builds its future classes.
Earlier this week, Auburn hosted 4-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror from Mobile, Alabama. Garror, ranked No. 51 nationally in the 2027 class, is considered the No. 6 edge prospect and the top overall recruit in Alabama.
Although Garror committed to Alabama last July, he remains open to other programs and is actively exploring his options.
His visit this weekend marks his first trip to Auburn since January, and he’s been building stronger relationships with the coaching staff, including outside linebackers coach Roc Bellantoni.
“Both Coach Roc and Coach \[Vontrell] King-Williams are great,” Garror told Auburn Rivals. “Coach Roc was talking about how I’d fit into the defense. He wants me to come down more often so we can get to know each other better and figure out how I’d be used on defense.”
Garror expressed a strong interest in Auburn, noting that he feels he could be a good fit for the team and is looking forward to discussing his potential role further during the visit. When asked about the possibility of flipping his commitment to Auburn, Garror didn’t rule it out.
“Most definitely,” he said. “I’m right here… and Auburn is a great place. Auburn and Alabama were the first two schools I ever seriously considered, since I grew up watching both. That’s where things stand.”
Garror also has summer visits scheduled with Florida State, Florida, Miami, and Alabama.
