Following their trade for wide receiver George Pickens, the Dallas Cowboys are generating serious buzz, with speculation mounting that they’re not done making moves in free agency.
Pickens’ arrival already boosted Dallas’ standing in the NFC East, but now the team is reportedly eyeing one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. With uncertainty surrounding Trevon Diggs’ recovery, Jerry Jones could have the perfect opportunity to pursue Jalen Ramsey.ESPN has weighed in, with insider Jeremy Fowler suggesting on SportsCenter that Dallas could be a team to watch in a potential Ramsey trade.
Cowboys Rumored to Be in the Mix for Jalen Ramsey
“They’ve already made three trades this offseason for players on rookie contracts,” Fowler noted. “Could they swing a fourth for a high-profile veteran? Absolutely. They still need help at cornerback. Someone I spoke with in Dallas said, ‘It’s quiet now, but we’re not necessarily done.’”
The Pickens deal sent a clear message: Dallas is all-in this year. A trade for Ramsey, one of the game’s elite cornerbacks, would only further signal that Jerry and Stephen Jones are eyeing a Super Bowl run.
As the Cowboys enter their second week of OTAs, cornerback remains a major area of concern. While the roster includes promising names, Diggs is recovering from knee surgery and third-round rookie Shavon Revel is also coming back from an ACL injury.
Currently, DaRon Bland, Kaiir Elam, Caelen Carson, and Israel Mukuamu are the only healthy corners on the roster with significant experience from last season.
A three-time All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, and Super Bowl champion, Ramsey is known for his lockdown coverage and underrated run support. He’d elevate any secondary, and he seems tailor-made for Dallas.
Reports from Miami suggest that Ramsey, entering his 31st year, wants to join a legitimate title contender. With the Dolphins not fitting that description, Dallas could be an ideal landing spot.
While acquiring Ramsey—who is under contract through 2028—might crowd the cornerback room, that’s a decision the Cowboys can worry about next offseason. For now, adding a player of Ramsey’s caliber would be a win-now move that aligns with their championship ambitions.
