Breaking: Grizzlies & Lakers’ $104 Million All-Star Trade Dreams Crushed!”

Following their blockbuster trade sending Anthony Davis to Dallas for Luka Doncic, the Los Angeles Lakers are in urgent need of a quality big man. Playing forwards like Dorian Finney-Smith and Rui Hachimura at center again isn’t a viable long-term option.

After Memphis recently shocked the league by dealing Desmond Bane, there’s been growing speculation that they might be preparing for a full rebuild—potentially putting stars like Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. on the trading block.

However, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst quickly shut down the idea of Jaren Jackson heading to L.A., stating firmly:

“No chance. No chance. Absolutely not worth a discussion.”

He emphasized that Jackson is likely in line for a contract extension exceeding \$200 million, signaling Memphis’ intention to build around him. In contrast, Windhorst said the future of Ja Morant is more uncertain and could involve a different outcome.

Jackson just wrapped up a career-best season, averaging 22.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, with a noticeable improvement in offensive efficiency. Although his shot-blocking numbers have declined and foul trouble remains an issue, the Grizzlies clearly view him as their franchise centerpiece.

The decision to move Bane appears to be driven by a desire to retool the roster around Jackson while maximizing flexibility, rather than tying up cap space in multiple major contracts.
