Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Has been arrested for assault.
Jail records from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office indicate that He was charged with “ASSAULT FAM/HOUSE MEM IMPEDE BREATH/CIRCULAT,” a third-degree felony. This charge involves intentionally or recklessly restricting a person’s breathing or blood circulation by obstructing their nose or applying pressure to their neck.
If convicted, the offense carries a prison sentence ranging from two to 10 years and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
“We are aware and gathering information,” the Kansas City Chiefs stated on Saturday.
This incident marks the second straight offseason in which a Chiefs player has faced legal issues. Last April, wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested following a multi-car crash in northeast Dallas while racing a Lamborghini.
The Chiefs face crucial roster decisions, particularly regarding free agents on both sides of the ball. While their defense was among the league’s best last season, offensive struggles—especially in the Super Bowl—highlighted the need for improvement. To remain dominant in the AFC, Kansas City must strengthen its offensive line and enhance the receiving corps, ensuring Mahomes has the protection and playmakers necessary to keep the team at the top.
Strengthening the Offensive Line and Adding Weapons
One of the most urgent priorities for the Chiefs this offseason is reinforcing the offensive line. Mahomes faced constant pressure throughout the season, and without significant upgrades, Kansas City risks repeating the same mistakes. Providing him with better protection must be a top priority for the front office.
Beyond the offensive line, the Chiefs must also address their lack of depth at wide receiver. While rookie Xavier Worthy showed flashes of brilliance, the overall passing attack lacked explosiveness.
Worthy stepped up in key moments, including the Super Bowl, but with limited reliable targets outside of him, the team needs to find another dynamic playmaker to support Mahomes.
Head coach Andy Reid acknowledged Worthy’s potential and suggested the team has yet to fully utilize his abilities.
“We’ve learned that Xavier is more than just a deep threat,” Reid said at the NFL Combine. “He has the ability to do more, and we probably could have taken advantage of that even further. I don’t think we’ve seen the full extent of what he can do, which is exciting.”
