The Chargers have added offensive tackle Foster Sarell to their practice squad and released David Sharpe in a corresponding move.
Sarell returns to Los Angeles after spending four seasons with the team from 2021 to 2024. He had signed a one-year deal with the Commanders in March but was released on Wednesday. Now back with the Chargers, Sarell will look to compete for a spot as the team’s swing tackle.
David Sharpe, who joined the practice squad midway through the preseason, has been let go to make room for Sarell.
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman recently indicated that Jamaree Salyer was the leading candidate for the swing tackle role, but with Sarell back in the mix, a competition for the position is expected in the coming days.
