Breaking: Steelers Share Ryan Watts Shocking Decision, Details ⬇️

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released defensive back Ryan Watts, who is medically retiring from football following a neck injury that ended his playing career.

Watts, a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, suffered the injury during the final preseason game of his rookie year against the Detroit Lions in August 2024. Initially diagnosed as a stinger, the injury later led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve on August 27.

“Today, we are releasing Ryan Watts from our roster,” said Steelers General Manager Omar Khan. “After thorough discussions with our medical staff, external experts, and Ryan’s team, we’ve collectively determined that stepping away from football is the best decision for his health.”

Khan also stated that the organization will continue to support Watts as he moves on to the next chapter of his life.

Watts began his college career at Ohio State (2020–2021) before transferring to Texas, where he played in 2022 and 2023. Over 41 collegiate games, he totaled 100 tackles, six pass breakups, three interceptions, and a sack.
