Disaster for Tigers: Hugh Freeze Loss Elite QB To Rival Amidst…

When it was revealed that 4-star Auburn commit Shadarius Toodle would be making an official visit to Georgia, it sparked concern among Auburn fans. And based on how things went during his weekend trip to Athens, those concerns may have been justified.

Not long ago, On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted that Georgia head coach Kirby Smart could successfully flip Toodle from Auburn, potentially dealing a major setback to Hugh Freeze’s 2026 recruiting class. That prediction has now placed Toodle firmly on “flip watch.”

Toodle has been committed to Auburn since late July, giving the Tigers an early recruiting win. However, several other programs have since turned up the heat. Along with his Auburn visit scheduled for June 13, Toodle is also expected to visit Michigan, Baylor, and North Carolina.Auburn v GeorgiaStill, in light of Wiltfong’s forecast, it’s uncertain whether Toodle will follow through with the rest of his visit plans. If Georgia does manage to land him, it would be a significant boost—especially after missing out on 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell just last week.

Though Toodle plays a different position, stealing a top recruit from a conference rival could inject new energy into Georgia’s recruiting efforts. Toodle, who has received 34 offers, is ranked as the No. 9 linebacker nationally, the No. 10 player in Alabama, and the No. 168 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

As of now, Toodle remains committed to Auburn, but Freeze’s grip on the talented linebacker appears to be slipping. Auburn fans may have to prepare for the possibility that Toodle ends up wearing Georgia red and black instead of Auburn orange and blue.
