Final Hours Frenzy: Giants Load Up in the Trenches, Take Big Swing at QB in 3-Round Mock Draft

With the NFL Draft less than a week away, the New York Giants are finalizing their draft board. The team continues to conduct pre-draft visits with intriguing prospects as they prepare for what could be a franchise-altering event. Holding the No. 3 overall pick and four selections in the top 100, the Giants are poised to walk away with a significant amount of talent in the first three rounds.

Three-Round Giants Mock Draft

No. 3 Overall: Best Player Available

At No. 3, the Giants face a key decision: go all-in on a quarterback or select one of the few elite prospects in the draft. While Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is the top QB available, selecting him here would likely be a reach—and the Giants don’t appear completely sold on him. Instead, this mock has them going with Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter, opting for the best player on the board and landing a premier pass-rusher.

Carter, a 2024 All-American and college football’s Defensive Player of the Year, posted 68 tackles, 12 sacks, and a nation-leading 24 tackles for loss. His unique blend of speed and power makes him a potential All-Pro edge rusher.

With Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on the roster, the Giants can afford to wait on a quarterback and focus on adding elite talent elsewhere.

Round 2: Bolstering the Offensive Line

Sticking with the best-player-available strategy, the Giants snag a high-upside offensive lineman who may sneak into Round 1 but could fall into early Round 2: Ohio State’s Donovan Jackson.Abdul Carter, Giants, NFL DraftWhile the Giants’ offensive line appears mostly set, Jackson offers long-term value and could compete for a starting role right away. A three-year starter at left guard, Jackson allowed only two sacks and 19 pressures over 422 pass-blocking snaps last season and has experience at left tackle—valuable depth given LT Andrew Thomas’ injury history.

The Giants also hosted Jackson for a pre-draft visit, signaling legitimate interest.

Round 3: Finally Drafting a Quarterback

With the No. 65 overall pick, the Giants address the quarterback position by selecting Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.Donovan Jackson, NFL Draft, GiantsThough initially projected as a Day 2 or Day 3 prospect, Milroe’s decision to attend the draft stirred speculation about his stock. A dynamic athlete with a strong rushing presence (20 rushing TDs in 2024), Milroe’s passing still needs refinement (16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions). However, under head coach Brian Daboll, known for developing quarterbacks, Milroe could be an ideal project with no pressure to start immediately behind Wilson and Winston.

Drafting Milroe gives the Giants flexibility—he could develop into a starter or serve as a high-upside backup, while leaving the door open to pursue another QB in the future.
