From Garnet to Razorback Red: Two Former Seminoles Head to Arkansas for 2025 Season

Seven of Florida State’s nine players who entered the NCAA Transfer Portal during the spring window have now committed to new teams.

On Sunday night, former FSU wide receiver Jalen Brown announced he’s transferring to Arkansas. Brown had been dismissed from the team last month following an arrest. He joins quarterback Trever Jackson as the second former Seminole to head to the Razorbacks.

During his lone season at FSU, Brown played in nine games with two starts, recording eight receptions for 75 yards and a 19-yard kickoff return. Injuries hampered his performance, and his effort was called into question at times last fall.

A former top-100 recruit in the 2023 class and a sought-after transfer after one season at LSU, Brown never truly found his rhythm in Tallahassee. Despite head coach Mike Norvell noting his improvement in the spring, Brown will now return to the SEC with three years of eligibility left.

Florida State has been active in the portal to fill the void left by Brown, Hykeem Williams, and Jordan Scott. After missing out on several top targets, the Seminoles eventually secured a commitment from former North Carolina receiver Gavin Blackwell. Notably, the three most experienced receivers on FSU’s roster all joined recently, with the remaining nine being underclassmen.
