Some major developments unfolded Monday in women’s college basketball when a highly ranked former recruit decided to transfer from one top-tier program to another within the same conference. While the decision wasn’t entirely unexpected, it still stirred conversation among fans and players alike.
Among those responding was Chicago Sky forward and former LSU star Angel Reese. A national champion during her time at LSU under coach Kim Mulkey, Reese shared her support for her former teammate Aalyah Del Rosario, commenting on her transfer announcement: *“ouu i like this for you! happy for you Lele”*
Del Rosario spent two seasons with the Tigers. During the 2023-24 season, she appeared in 37 games, averaging 11.2 minutes and 4.7 points per game. However, her role diminished this past season, with playing time dropping to just 6.4 minutes per game.
Before joining LSU, Del Rosario was a top high school player at the Webb School in Tennessee, helping her team to back-to-back state championships and earning a spot on the Naismith High School All-America team. She also won gold with Team USA at the 2022 FIBA U18 World Cup in Argentina.
Del Rosario is one of five players to leave LSU after the season. Sa’Myah Smith was the first to announce her exit on March 31, followed by Last-Tear Poa, then Del Rosario, with Jersey Wolfenbarger and Amani Bartlett also choosing to move on from the program.
