New York Giants Latest: Reaches Agreement To Land $160 Million Ex Vikings QB Top Prospect

The Minnesota Vikings face a well-documented and complex quarterback decision this season, with their options ,

However, an overlooked storyline revolves around the future of former Vikings and New York Giants quarterback.

He joined Minnesota late last season after being released by the Giants, officially closing the chapter on his ill-fated four-year, $160 million contract—one that followed his lone playoff appearance and victory in 2022.

Though He didn’t take a single snap for the Vikings after signing, there was speculation that he could return as a backup if the team moves on from Him and hands the reins to 2024’s 10th overall pick.Daniel JonesWhere Will Daniel Jones Land?

With the likelihood of Darnold securing a long-term deal in Minnesota diminishing, the prospect of Jones staying with the Vikings has grown, as he adjusts to a role outside of being a full-time starter for the first time in nearly six years.

In a surprising development on Tuesday, Steelers insider Andrew Fillipponi reported that Pittsburgh may have interest in signing the 27-year-old quarterback, according to a source within the organization (via JPA Football).

: The #Steelers have interest in free agent quarterback Daniel Jones, a source from within the organization told @ThePoniExpress.

With the 21st pick in this year’s draft, Pittsburgh is unlikely to land one of the top two quarterback prospects, Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders, both projected to be selected within the top 10 of what is considered a weak QB class.

As a result, the Steelers will likely turn to free agency once again. While Aaron Rodgers has been rumored as a potential addition, bringing in Jones could provide depth and starting experience behind the 41-year-old quarterback, who is just 18 months removed from a major Achilles injury.

Jones had a highly inconsistent tenure in New York, where he accumulated 14,821 passing yards, 70 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions over six seasons. He posted an average passer rating of 84.3 and a solid 64.1% completion rate. However, aside from a standout 2022 season, his time with the Giants is largely considered a disappointment.

The Steelers are under no illusion that Jones is their long-term answer, but he could offer some level of competence and experience to a quarterback room facing significant uncertainty heading into the 2025 season.
