Buffalo Bills wide receiver entered the 2024 season as the only returning receiver who had previously caught a pass from Josh Allen in live NFL action. With the team moving on from Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, Shakir was called upon to step up—and he delivered. He led the Bills in receiving yards (821), receptions (76), and targets (100), while ranking second in touchdowns (four), establishing himself as Allen’s go-to target.
As a result of his breakout season, Buffalo rewarded Shakir with a four-year, $60.2 million contract extension this offseason. After securing the new deal, he made sure to acknowledge the teammate who played a key role in his success—Allen.“He called me shortly after the contract was announced,” Shakir said. “He was super excited, and I made sure to let him know how grateful I am. I wouldn’t be where I am without him—his trust in me and our communication have been crucial. My success is largely because of him. To play alongside him, I truly believe he’s the best athlete I’ve ever been around, and I’m thankful to continue sharing the field with him.”
After demonstrating strong chemistry last season, Allen and Shakir will look to build on that momentum in 2025 as the Bills aim to take the next step in the playoffs. However, Buffalo still needs to add another reliable receiving option to support Allen, whether through free agency or the draft.
With his future secured, Shakir can now focus on preparing for training camp and taking his game to another level next season—especially with No. 17 throwing him the ball.
