The Boston Bruins used the final stretch of the regular season—after falling out of playoff contention—to get a better look at some of their younger players.
One of the standout prospects was Fraser Minten, acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the NHL trade deadline in exchange for Brandon Carlo. Minten may be the most intriguing talent in Boston’s pipeline.
On a recent episode of NESN’s “The Hockey Hub” podcast, Kasey Hudson broke down why Minten is such a promising player for the Bruins.
“Minten excites me because of how calm and composed he is,” Hudson said. “He carries himself with this quiet confidence and intensity, especially around the net. He’s relentless there and has a quick release, which means he doesn’t hesitate or overthink—he just gets pucks on goal.”
Minten, a 20-year-old forward and 2022 second-round pick by Toronto, had a strong 2022-23 season in the WHL with 31 goals and 36 assists for the Kamloops Blazers. He also saw NHL action with the Maple Leafs this year, playing in 15 games.
The Bruins gave him six games in Boston to showcase his skills. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound center scored once and showed enough potential to get fans excited about his future.
