The Chicago Bulls faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers in a matchup that highlighted two of the league’s most well-known Australian players, Josh Giddey and Ben Simmons. Despite Giddey’s historic performance for the Bulls, the Clippers secured a 121-117 victory.
Since joining the Clippers following a buyout from the Brooklyn Nets, Simmons has flourished in a bench role. On Wednesday, he contributed six points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, continuing to make an impact despite not possessing the same athleticism that once made him a perennial All-Star.
Giddey, however, has always maintained his belief in Simmons. The Bulls guard shared that they have remained in close contact over the years and have only grown closer since Giddey entered the NBA.
“We’ve stayed close, and as I came to the NBA, we’ve gotten closer. That’s a guy I’ve always rooted for,” Giddey said after the Bulls’ loss, per K.C. Johnson of CHSN.
Demonstrating their strong bond, Giddey keeps a signed Clippers jersey from Simmons in his locker. Their friendship dates back to their shared roots in Melbourne, Australia.
Although the past season has been challenging for both players, their recent performances indicate a return to form, reaffirming the confidence of fans who never doubted their talent.
