With less than a week to go before the 2025 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins are making headlines, particularly with rumors that Jalen Ramsey may be on the trading block.
If Miami does move on from Ramsey, they’ll likely need to address the cornerback position. Fortunately, they hold the No. 13 pick, giving them a prime opportunity to draft a top-tier defensive back.
According to a new projection, the Dolphins are expected to trade down one spot to No. 14 in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. In this scenario, Miami is predicted to select standout Texas Longhorns cornerback Jahdae Barron—potentially a perfect replacement for Ramsey—according to Chad Reuter’s latest seven-round mock draft for NFL.com.
Barron was a key contributor in three of those seasons, amassing 226 total tackles, two sacks, eight interceptions, one defensive touchdown, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and 24 passes defended over 57 games.
While Miami may decide to explore other options, from an outside perspective, Barron seems like an ideal fit and would be a strong choice, especially if Ramsey ends up being traded.
