Minnesota has extended head football coach P.J. Fleck’s contract through the 2030 season.
The university’s board of regents approved the extension during its July meeting, as announced on Wednesday. Specific financial details were not released.
Fleck, 44, has led the Golden Gophers since 2017, compiling a 58-39 overall record and a 34-36 mark in Big Ten play.
Under Fleck, Minnesota has gone a perfect 6-0 in bowl games, most recently defeating Virginia Tech in last season’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Before Fleck’s tenure, all other Gophers head coaches combined for just seven bowl victories, and the program holds a 13-12 bowl record overall.
Fleck is also the only Minnesota coach since 1905 to achieve three seasons with nine or more wins.
Previously, Fleck coached at Western Michigan from 2013 to 2016, posting a 30-22 record and earning Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year honors twice. He was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2019.
