The Denver Nuggets wrapped up their 2024-25 season with a second-round playoff exit at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now that OKC is headed to the NBA Finals, many fans have pointed out that Denver was the only Western Conference team to truly challenge the title favorites.
This season, the Nuggets were one of the West’s more experienced, veteran-driven squads, boasting championship pedigree—particularly with seasoned players like Russell Westbrook and DeAndre Jordan coming off the bench.Veteran center DeAndre Jordan, 36, just completed his 17th NBA season—his third with Denver—continuing to provide leadership and a steady presence behind three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
Following the season, Jordan shared a heartfelt message on social media, reflecting on the year while making it clear he isn’t ready to retire just yet.
From DeAndre Jordan:
“Season 17 in the books.
I’m incredibly thankful for this team, this city, and all the support we received throughout the season. I never get tired of playing this game, and doing it with this group made it all the more special. Much love to the Mile High fans—you brought the energy every night. And to my family, friends, and everyone who’s supported me, thank you for the love.
PS: This is not a retirement post!”
Several of Jordan’s Nuggets teammates chimed in on his Instagram post with supportive and playful comments:
- Peyton Watson: “Goddy! “
- Trey Alexander: “Yk wtf going man”
- Julian Strawther: “xtra crispy”
Even NFL star Cam Jordan of the New Orleans Saints joined in, commenting:
- Cam Jordan: “Pfft… retirement? Whooo!! You goin for 20 them thangs!!”
As Denver looks to continue contending for a title next season, having DeAndre Jordan’s leadership and experience in the locker room remains invaluable. Re-signing him this offseason would be a key move to keep their championship hopes alive.
