JUST IN: Packers Star Jayden Reed Stuns Front office With Bold Message.

The Green Bay Packers made headlines by selecting a wide receiver in the first round for the first time in over 20 years, raising questions about how their target distribution might look in 2025. Reports emerged that wideout Jayden Reed’s agent approached the team with concerns about the pick, but Reed recently clarified what really happened.

During OTAs, Reed addressed the situation, explaining that the story was misunderstood. He attributed the conversation between his agent and the front office to the onboarding process with his new representative, Drew Rosenhaus. Reed said Rosenhaus simply wanted to align with general manager Brian Gutekunst and ensure mutual understanding.NFL: NFC Wild Card Round-Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles“A lot of people took it the wrong way,” Reed told reporters. “When I hired my new agent, we discussed this before the draft. He said he was going to meet with the front office to get up to speed and make sure everything was clear. That’s just how he works. I’m not sure how it leaked, because it was meant to stay private, but that’s just how things go. People form their own narratives, and that’s fine.”

It’s understandable that Reed, 25, would be curious about his standing on the team, especially with the Packers using early picks on wide receivers Matthew Golden (1st round) and Savion Williams (3rd round). Those additions suggest there could be more competition for touches in the offense.

Last season, Reed had a strong start, averaging over 81 scrimmage yards per game in his first nine appearances. However, his production dipped later in the season, dropping to just over 36 yards per game from Weeks 11 to 18.

In terms of contract, Reed is set to earn $1.402 million in 2025 and $1.729 million in 2026, with free agency looming in 2027. Despite the new additions, his spot on the roster appears secure for now. Williams is expected to serve a more specialized role, potentially filling in for the oft-injured Christian Watson, while Golden may eventually take over Romeo Doubs’ responsibilities. Reed isn’t guaranteed a contract extension yet, but he remains a key piece in Green Bay’s offensive plans.
