The Las Vegas Raiders announced on Wednesday that they have signed their star defensive end to a multi-year contract extension. This deal ensures Crosby remains with the team, preventing any potential trade rumors that might have surfaced if the Raiders continued to struggle.
With their coaching staff in place, the Raiders are now focusing on strengthening their roster, starting with securing their top player.
Originally selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Crosby has established himself as one of the league’s premier defenders. A four-time Pro Bowler, he has recorded at least 10 sacks in three of his first six seasons.
Maxx Crosby’s New Contract Details
Crosby agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million extension, with $91.5 million guaranteed.
A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed the contract details to USA TODAY Sports’ Tyler Dragon but spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
This extension makes Crosby the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Despite years of losing seasons, the player known as “Mad Maxx” never requested a trade.
This offseason, the Raiders brought in a new leadership team, hiring Pete Carroll as head coach and John Spytek as general manager. Additionally, part-owner Tom Brady has played an active role in team decisions, particularly in the recruitment of quarterback Matthew Stafford, who ultimately chose to stay with the Los Angeles Rams.
Crosby has always emphasized his desire to win but admitted he once doubted whether that could happen with the Raiders.
“I’ve had doubts in the past,” Crosby told ProFootballTalk. “This past year was the most challenging of my career—playing through injury, enduring a 10-game losing streak. It made me question a lot of things.”
However, with the arrival of Carroll, Spytek, and Brady, Crosby now feels more hopeful than ever about the team’s future.
Now, with a $106.5 million extension, that optimism is reinforced—especially after setting a new benchmark for defensive stars in the league.
