Following the re-signing of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, the Cleveland Browns are being advised to consider another big reunion—this time with wide receiver Amari Cooper.
Flacco, who played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2024 and showed he still has the skills to lead an offense, is set to return to Cleveland. Though the Browns are likely to draft a rookie quarterback this year, Flacco offers a dependable option to start the season.
During Flacco’s previous stint with the Browns in 2023, he developed a strong connection with Cooper, who is now a free agent. Browns insider Brad Stainbrook has suggested that the team should bring Cooper back on a one-year, low-cost deal, citing their past chemistry and solid rapport.
Cooper was traded to the Buffalo Bills before last season’s deadline, but his 2024 campaign didn’t live up to expectations. Across 14 games with Cleveland and Buffalo, he tallied just 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns, raising concerns about whether age is catching up to him.
Even so, a short-term deal could be a smart gamble for the Browns. It would give Cooper a chance to bounce back—and possibly reignite the spark with Flacco that once energized Cleveland’s offense.
