LATEST: Cincinnati Reds’ Top prospect Gets Major Upgrade, Makes Surprising Decision.

After sitting out the entire previous season due to a torn left labrum, Cincinnati Reds’ top prospect says he’s “ready to go.”

Speaking to MLB.com, He expressed his hope for a major league call-up this year but emphasized his excitement about being healthy and back on the field.

“Maybe I could’ve made it to the big leagues last year, maybe not,” he said. “But either way, I’m ready now. Hopefully, it happens soon.”

The 21-year-old shortstop began his career with the Seattle Mariners before being traded to the Reds in 2022 as part of the deal that sent Luis Castillo to Seattle.

Arroyo holds a career .268 batting average in the minors and hit .252 in 2023. He reached Double-A that season but played only four games, meaning he still has development ahead at the upper levels.ImageDespite his ambitious goals, MLB.com projects Arroyo to debut in the majors in 2026. He was recently ranked as the No. 92 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.

If he reaches Cincinnati, Arroyo will join a deep and talented infield that includes Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Gavin Lux, Jeimer Candelario, Spencer Steer, and Christian Encarnacion-Strand.

The Reds finished fourth in the NL Central last season, but expectations are high following the hiring of future Hall of Fame manager Terry Francona and the acquisition of pitcher Brady Singer from the Kansas City Royals.
