Despite enduring another disappointing season, Luis Robert Jr. is reportedly on the trade radar for both the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.
“Luis Robert Jr. remains a name to watch as a potential trade target. Sources expect teams like the Yankees, Mariners, and Phillies to be involved in discussions leading up to the trade deadline,” MLB insider Francys Romero reported this week. The Chicago White Sox center fielder has been surrounded by trade speculation for the past two seasons. However, in that time, he’s done little to boost his stock. Following a breakout 2023 campaign—where he earned All-Star honors and recorded career highs in home runs (38), RBIs (80), and runs scored (90)—his production has sharply declined.
He ended last season with the worst numbers of his career, slashing .224/.278/.379/.657. Many hoped 2024 would be a turnaround year, but through 59 games, Robert is on track to post even more dismal stats, currently slashing .184/.269/.304/.574.
