The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team has landed a major piece for its 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star guard Dante Allen. Ranked No. 42 by ESPN and No. 63 by the On3 Industry Ranking, Allen’s addition marks a key early success for new head coach Jai Lucas as he builds his first class at Miami.
Allen, a 6’4″, 220-pound guard with a 6’7″ wingspan from Montverde Academy in Florida, originally committed to Villanova in October 2024. However, he reopened his recruitment in March 2025 after Villanova head coach Kyle Neptune was fired. In his senior season, Allen averaged 11.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 48% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc.
Allen is the son of current Miami Heat assistant coach Malik Allen and played AAU basketball with Nightrydas Elite under Andrew Moran, who recently joined Miami’s staff. These connections likely influenced his decision to commit to the Hurricanes. Known for his strength, versatility, and defensive skills, Allen can play both on and off the ball and continues to grow as a playmaker.
This commitment adds to Miami’s recent recruiting momentum. Alongside Allen, the Hurricanes have been active in the transfer portal, bringing in Tre Donaldson (Michigan), Tru Washington (New Mexico), Ernest Udeh Jr. (TCU), and Malik Reneau (Indiana), as they strengthen their roster for the future.
