Major-Breaking: Sabres Top prospect shared measured message on expectations about his

The Sabres’ prospect and backup goalie is finding purpose with the Rochester Americans.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
It can be challenging for players to get called up to the Sabres only to be sent down multiple times during their early seasons. However, Devon Levi seems to have fully embraced his time with the Rochester American

Levi has appeared in nine games for Buffalo this season, posting a 2-7 record with a .872 save percentage. He has frequently been reassigned to Rochester, spending time in both cities.

Despite the ups and downs, Levi appears to have settled into his role with the Americans. He has compiled a 16-6-4 record with a .927 save percentage. The Sabres will likely face decisions about their goaltending situation moving forward.

If Levi stays healthy, he could become an integral part of their future plans. His positive attitude and strong performance in Rochester could be exactly what he needs to eventually earn a starting role in the NHL.

Levi hasn’t played for Buffalo since January 20th against the Kraken, but he doesn’t seem to be bothered by this. In an interview with Mathew Fairburn of *The Athletic*, Levi shared his thoughts on his time in Rochester: “I love every moment when I’m at the rink in Rochester. I’m grateful for my time here, both in my development as a player and in my life outside the game. I enjoy being here. I feel like I’m learning a lot—both as a person and as a goalie. This is where I need to be right now.”

This season, the 23-year-old has posted seven shutouts for Rochester. His performance could become a key point of focus for Sabres management this offseason. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has struggled in net for Buffalo, and James Reimer will be a free agent next year.

If Levi continues his solid play, he could play a major role in the Sabres’ offseason decisions, possibly as a starting goalie who splits time with a new addition, or as a reliable backup. He has currently recorded 941 saves this season for Rochester.

On October 12th, Levi made 23 saves with a .920 save percentage in a 5-2 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Buffalo is working to end the season with a winning record, and Levi’s performance in that game could be crucial to their success.

More consistent performances like his win against Florida could pave the way for Levi to take on an even bigger role with the Sabres next season.
