Major Roster Shake-Up: Rams Cut 2024 Rookie DL in Potential First …

The Los Angeles Rams have made an unexpected early roster change, releasing rookie defensive tackle David Olajiga before offseason workouts have even begun. Olajiga, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound lineman from Central Missouri, joined the Rams after going undrafted in 2024. He spent time on the practice squad and signed a Reserve/Future contract but never saw any game action.

His release is somewhat puzzling given that the Rams haven’t yet reached the 90-man offseason roster limit—they were at 87 players before this move and now sit at 86. Since Olajiga’s contract wasn’t significant enough to affect salary cap calculations, financial reasons likely weren’t behind the decision.

Instead, the team may be signaling confidence in its new rookie defensive linemen—Ty Hamilton, Bill Norton, and Da’Jon Terry—by trimming the depth at the position. With four open spots still available, more roster adjustments are expected as the Rams prepare for the 2025 season.

This could be the first of several changes aimed at refining the team’s lineup well before training camp. After slow starts the past two seasons, the Rams are looking to enter the 2025 campaign with a clear sense of who’s ready to contribute.
