The New York Giants might not be generating much buzz at the moment, but they do have a valuable chance to start laying the groundwork for a successful future.
They recently signed veteran quarterback, a 10-time Pro Bowler. While he’s unlikely to be a long-term solution under center, he’s expected to be a solid transitional figure as the team searches for its next franchise quarterback.
Wilson spent the first 10 seasons of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, leading them to a Super Bowl victory in just his second year in 2013. However, after things stagnated in Seattle, he was traded to the Denver Broncos three years ago. Expectations were high, but his performance dipped and the team missed the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023.Last season, Wilson helped guide the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs, but he wasn’t seen as part of their long-term strategy, opening the door for his move to New York.
The Giants also have promising young talent in wide receiver Malik Nabers, who impressed in his rookie season, and first-year quarterback Jaxson Dart, who they hope can develop into a long-term starter.
Although it will be tough for New York to secure a playoff berth in a competitive NFC, simply improving on last season’s 3-14 record would mark a meaningful step forward.
