Willie Lampkin wasn’t selected during the NFL Draft, but he landed a spot in the league by signing with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.
Despite being considered undersized at 5’11” and 280 pounds, Lampkin’s background as a Florida state wrestling champion in high school helped shape his football game, particularly with his strong leverage and low center of gravity.
After spending three seasons at Coastal Carolina, Lampkin transferred to North Carolina for his final two years of eligibility. He excelled as a Tar Heel, earning first-team All-ACC honors and recognition as a 2024 first-team All-American. He also took home the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the top offensive lineman in the conference and showcased his talents well at the Senior Bowl.
Known for his versatility on the interior offensive line, Lampkin not only thrived as a guard but also stepped in effectively at center when needed. This adaptability will likely be a valuable asset at the pro level.
While offensive line wasn’t a top priority for the Rams in this year’s draft, head coach Sean McVay’s offensive expertise suggests he sees potential in adding a flexible lineman like “Big Willie” to the roster.
Congratulations to Willie Lampkin on turning his NFL dream into a reality with the Rams.
