Reds Front office Decision about Spark’s intense speculation Will Benson amid..

Cincinnati Reds outfielder **Will Benson** hasn’t started a game since **August 1**, though he did spend a couple of weeks in Triple-A after being optioned earlier that month. Since rejoining the roster on **August 17**, he’s mostly been used as a late-game defensive sub, appearing in **13 games** but logging just **12 plate appearances**.

Despite the limited action, Benson has still managed a **.333 on-base percentage**, which is impressive given how little he’s played. Fans appreciate his effort and energy, but many feel he’s been unfairly sidelined.

Even bench players like **Santiago Espinal** have received more regular starts than Benson, leaving fans baffled and frustrated.

Questions surrounding Benson’s role have lingered all season. After a big hit—a would-be home run that ended up as a triple—against the **Rockies**, Benson was criticized by manager **Terry Francona** for admiring the shot too long. Since then, his opportunities have dwindled, and many wonder if that moment is still affecting his standing with the team.

When the Reds designated **Jake Fraley** for assignment, many thought it would finally open up playing time for Benson. Instead, **Gavin Lux** and **Austin Hays** have split time in left field, and **Noelvi Marte’s** move to right has further limited Benson’s chances.

Benson still has minor-league options left, and while he’s had a tough season statistically, some speculate he could be **non-tendered** this winter. That would be a surprising move given his potential and energy.

At this point, it’s clear Benson remains in Francona’s “doghouse,” but fans are growing increasingly vocal in their support of him. With the offseason approaching, Benson’s future in Cincinnati feels uncertain.
