SAD NEWS: Incredible bad news! Offensive Lineman Out for Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered a significant loss on their offensive line. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, lineman Max Scharping has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL during practice on Wednesday.

Scharping, who signed with the Steelers in October 2024, didn’t suit up for the team’s first two games of the season. He primarily played as a second-team center during training camp and the preseason, per Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot.

A former second-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2019, the 29-year-old Scharping made two appearances for Pittsburgh last season. He was currently listed as a backup to starting right guard Mason McCormick on the depth chart.

Scharping’s injury adds to a growing list of health concerns for the Steelers. The team has already placed **defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk** on injured reserve. **Linebacker Alex Highsmith** is expected to miss some time but has not been placed on IR. Meanwhile, safety DeShon Elliott** and **cornerback Joey Porter Jr. are both considered “questionable,” according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
