The Cincinnati Reds finalized a three-year contract on Thursday worth $14.925 million, securing an additional $11.5 million in guaranteed earnings.

Trevino, acquired from the New York Yankees in December in exchange for reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, initially avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.425 million deal. Trevino will start the season as the Reds’ primary catcher, stepping in for Tyler Stephenson, who is sidelined with an oblique injury. Stephenson last played on March 11 before being scratched the next day and undergoing an MRI on March 13.

Last season, Trevino appeared in 74 games, batting .215 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs. He earned his first All-Star selection in 2022, when he played a career-high 115 games, won a Gold Glove, and posted a .248 average with 11 homers and 43 RBIs.

Over seven major league seasons with Texas and the Yankees, Trevino has compiled a .236 batting average, 32 home runs, and 141 RBIs.
