SHOCKING TWIST: Giants bolster depth with the commitment of Another Talented QB From rivals.

The New York Giants have signed Jameis Winston, but they’re still exploring veteran quarterback options in the 2025 NFL free agency market.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Giants remain interested in 36-year-old Russell Wilson despite adding Winston. On March 23, Florio reported, “Per multiple sources, Wilson remains on the Giants’ radar — even after the signing of Jameis Winston.”

Florio explained that Wilson’s potential move to the Giants was reconsidered after initially ruling them out as a team seeking another veteran quarterback. A source clarified that Winston was signed as a backup, and Wilson is still a possibility.

One of Florio’s sources even suggested the Giants are more focused on finding a veteran starter than the Browns and certainly more than the Vikings.Jameis WinstonThis aligns with earlier reports that, despite signing Winston to a two-year deal, the Giants have also shown interest in Aaron Rodgers. However, Florio noted that while the Giants technically remain in contention for Rodgers, a move now “seems unlikely.”

With Rodgers likely off the table, Wilson becomes the most prominent available quarterback who could fit the Giants’ plans. However, adding him would require a significant financial commitment—Spotrac projects his market value at $38.7 million annually over two years.

That’s a steep price for an aging quarterback who, despite possessing a strong arm, has struggled with inconsistency. This concern also applies to Winston, who was signed at a much lower cost—just $4 million per year.

While there has long been mutual interest between Wilson and the Giants, bringing him in ahead of Winston would be a costly way to secure stability at quarterback. It remains to be seen whether general manager Joe Schoen will opt for a younger, more affordable alternative instead.
