Almost a week after being dismissed, Michael Malone shared an emotional farewell with the Denver Nuggets organization, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to lead the team during one of its most historic eras.
“Ten years ago, I was given the amazing chance to become the Head Coach of the Denver Nuggets, not knowing just how life-changing it would be,” Malone wrote in a message published by the *Denver Post* via Bennett Durando. “I’m incredibly thankful to the Kroenke family, our outstanding players, and my brilliant coaching staff. It was a true honor to work with you all every day.”
He also extended heartfelt thanks to Nuggets fans, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
“To Nuggets Nation, it’s been a true joy to lead and represent this team every night. Helping bring the city its first NBA title is something I’ll always hold dear,” Malone said. “The love and loyalty you’ve shown me and my family will never be forgotten. Denver will always be home, and coaching here was an absolute privilege.”
Over nearly a decade with the Nuggets, Malone posted a 471-327 record and played a crucial role in developing Nikola Jokic, standing by the MVP long before he reached elite status.
As for the current state of the Nuggets, the team is moving forward with interim coach David Adelman, aiming to make a deep playoff push. Despite the tough first-round matchup against a surging Clippers squad, Denver is hoping for another spark from Jokic and Jamal Murray as they attempt to capitalize on the rest of their season.
